Today we again welcome a very special guest to our blog. Jochen from the Federal Administration Office will tell us about his experience with event apps. As an employee of the Central Office for Schools Abroad, he was actively involved in the planning and implementation of the World Congress.
In this interview, he will tell us more about the World Congress and how he used an event app. Have fun reading. ?
LineUpr: Hello Jochen. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Please introduce yourself and the World Congress of German Schools Abroad.
Jochen: I work at the Federal Office of Administration in the Central Office for Schools Abroad and I have participated in the planning, and implementation of the World Congress.
The World Congress is intended to strengthen the network of German schools abroad, to make its potential visible and to secure quality as an exchange forum. Over 500 participants from 140 German schools abroad from all over the world contributed to this event in June 2018.
LineUpr: How much time and work do you spend on the planning of the World Congress on average?
Jochen: The World Congress of German Schools Abroad was organized by the Central Office for Schools Abroad (ZfA) together with the Federal Foreign Office and the World Association of German Schools Abroad (WDA). The preparation took over a year.
LineUpr: What was the decisive argument for you to use an event app?
Jochen: The World Congress of German Schools Abroad is a very complex event with several target groups, plenary sessions, workshops and other elements in three venues and over four days. We needed an easy way to display the programme specific to the target group and also to communicate short-term changes and notifications.
We needed an easy way to display the programme specific to the target group …
LineUpr: How did you use the app before, during and after the World Congress?
Jochen: All event elements were listed in the app according to their target groups. We updated the programme by continually using the app.
All participants were informed by e-mail in advance about our event app. We also repeatedly referred to the app on site.
LineUpr: How did your visitors react to the app?
Jochen: Most of the participants used the app and were very satisfied.
Use any medium to draw attention to the app.
LineUpr: What tips would you like to give other organizers when using LineUpr?
Jochen: Always have a tablet or laptop with you to make short-term changes and use any medium to draw attention to the app.
LineUpr: Thank you Jochen for the little interview. It’s not always that easy for public authorities. So I am all the more pleased that you let us share your experiences. If you want to know more about the World Congress and the system for schools abroad, then a visit to the homepage or social media profiles on Facebook and YouTube is recommended.
We look forward to your next events and to how we can support them with LineUpr.
