In this interview, we again welcome a non-profit association. Antje and Philipp from the “Forum Bildung Digitalisierung” are our guests. The name already gives a good indication of the association’s mission. It promotes the digitalization of schools in Germany.
That’s why the Forum organizes the Education Digitalization Conference once a year. In the interview, they both talk more about the association, what is behind the conference and how they optimally use LineUpr.
LineUpr: Hello Philipp and Antje. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Please introduce yourself and the Forum Bildung Digitalisierung.
Antje and Philipp: Hello, we are Antje and Philipp from the Forum Bildung Digitalisierung. This is a non-profit association of seven foundations: Deutsche Telekom Foundation, Bertelsmann Foundation, Dieter Schwarz Foundation, Montag Foundation Jugend und Gesellschaft, Robert Bosch Foundation, Siemens Foundation, and Foundation Mercator. In this association, we want to exploit the opportunities offered by digitalization and digital media and shape the digital transformation in education. Antje works as a junior project manager and I, Philipp, as a work-student in communications.
LineUpr: Once a year, you organize the Education Digitalization Conference, among others. What is this event?
Antje and Philipp: The Education Digitalization Conference has been held annually since 2017 and is the leading conference for school development in the digital world. Here, we discuss with the participants how digital media can change the everyday life of schools and learning to enable good schooling. Diversity, exchange and interactive formats often determine our agenda. The conference is an ideal place for meeting and networking. In 2019 the conference will take place on the 12th and 13th of September at Cafe Moskau in Berlin.
LineUpr: Which target group are you addressing with this event and which channels and strategies are you using?
Antje and Philipp: Our goal is to bring together all participants in the field of education and to actively involve them in order to jointly improve education in the digital world. At the Education Digitalization conference, we bundle their knowledge and expertise to make it usable for all. That’s why our program also draws on a broad call for participation. With such a program that comes from practice and is made for practice, we can expand our network with each passing year.
LineUpr: You have already used LineUpr several times. How did you learn about us and what was the decisive argument for you to use an event app?
Antje and Philipp: As a forum for digitalizing education, it is a matter of the heart to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalization and to use digital tools where they make sense. For the second time, we used LineUpr for the Education Digitalization Conference, which has a diverse program with several parallel slots spread over two days. Here an app helps enormously to simply and quickly navigate through the program and location.
LineUpr: Do you also use printed products for marketing your events or distributing information on-site? If so, which and why?
Antje and Philipp: Printed materials have the advantage that they can be designed, and easily taken and passed on. Through this way, we can also reach people who are not yet familiar with our other digital channels or simply like to handle analog program schedules. Besides, of course, small give-aways work best analog.
Here an app helps enormously to simply and quickly navigate through the program and location.
LineUpr: Let’s get back to the Education Digitalization Conference. How did you use the app before, during and after this event?
Antje and Philipp: We published the program and the most important information in the app for the participants a few weeks before the event. In addition, also background information about our sponsoring foundations, orientation aids on-site and information about the speakers.
LineUpr: How did your visitors react to the app?
Antje and Philipp: The feedback on the app was consistently positive. The participants liked the intuitive and fast navigation of the app and the appealing look.
I would recommend other organizers to just have the courage to use an event app like LineUpr to break new ground
LineUpr: Which top three tips for the use of LineUpr would you like to give other organizers?
Antje and Philipp: I would recommend other organizers to just have the courage to use an event app like LineUpr to break new ground. It is important to think in advance about how the event program can be structured appropriately and, very important, allow sufficient time for the app to be filled, so that the result is good at the end. Other than that, there are also features in the app which we are yet to explore.
LineUpr: Thank you for the friendly interview Antje and Philipp. A combination of two interview partners is always very relaxing. More information about the association can be found on their homepage. The conference Education Digitization 2019 will take place on 12 and 13 September at the Cafe Moscow in Berlin. Of course, there are many interesting little stories on Facebook and Twitter. Just stop by.
We are pleased to be able to be supporting you on your mission.
