Reading time: 4

Every year thousands of people need a bone marrow donation.
Without central organizations such as bone marrow registries, these people
would probably have no chance to survive. Therefore, we are very proud that the
LineUpr app is also used by such organizations.

Today we have Martine Schuit from the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) as a guest. She used LineUpr for the WMDA Anniversary Conference. In the interview, Martine tells us which printed products she used, how she shared the app with the participants and what other organizers should consider. Really worth reading.

LineUpr: Hello Martine.
Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Please introduce yourself
and the World Marrow Donor Association.

Martine: Hi there, my name is Martine and I am WMDA’s office manager and executive assistant. The World Marrow Donor Association is the international association for all stem cell and bone marrow donor registries, where volunteers can sign up to become a donor for patients with diseases that compromise the blood-forming system and/or immune system (like leukemia and other forms of blood cancer). Many Public Cord Blood Banks (for stem cells from umbilical cords) and transplant centers are also members of our association. Together we strive to ensure patients worldwide have equal access to high-quality cells for transplantation from donors whose rights and safety are protected.

LineUpr: You’ve
used LineUpr for the WMDA Anniversary Conference. Tell us more about that
event? Which target group did you want to address?

Martine: Every
year a WMDA member hosts a conference for all members, so we can connect to
share best practices and collaborate to improve our work. Because we celebrated
our 25th anniversary this year, WMDA decided to host the conference herself. We
had a wonderful gathering with over 220 attendees from 55 countries in the
beautiful beach town of Noordwijk, the Netherlands.

LineUpr: What
strategies and tools do you use when addressing this target group? Do you
attach particular importance to something special?

Martine: We communicated about the conference on multiple platforms: our website, our newsletter Stem Cell Matters and through social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

LineUpr: Do you
also use printed products for marketing the event or distributing information
on-site? If so, which and why?

Martine: We printed a flyer that was distributed during the conferences prior to our anniversary conference to create more awareness and to make it more visible and easier to scan the QR-code. This was an addition to all our online and digital activities.

We only received positive feedback: the app was easy to use and the information was clear.

LineUpr: How much
in advance do you publish the app? What information do you already communicate
via the app before the event?

Martine: We published the app two weeks before the conference to give the participants and speakers the time to install the app and give feedback before the event started. Also, we communicated all the information we already had at that time through the app: our programme, the speakers, information about the surroundings of the conference venue and our sponsors.

LineUpr: When and
how do you inform the participants of the event about the event app?

Martine: We informed the participants through a special newsletter for attendees only. We added the QR-code for scanning. We also had pictures of the QR-code with a short instruction on all the conference tables and at the reception desk.

We would definitely use LineUpr for future meetings.

LineUpr: How did
your visitors react to the app?

Martine: We only received positive feedback: the app was easy to use and the information was clear.

LineUpr: We want
to grow daily and offer our customers a better experience, what features would
you like for the app and why?

Martine: A
feature we missed was the ability to see how many people had installed or
viewed the app and when most people installed the app. This makes it hard for
us to see whether the app was used and how much is was used This would have
been an addition to determine the usefulness of the app.

LineUpr: Which
top three tips would you like to give to other organizers when using LineUpr?

Martine: 1. Send
the app to your speakers first. They can then confirm whether the information
about them is correct so you can adjust things before the big public sees it.

2. Make sure the speakers send you information about
themselves beforehand, including a picture of themselves. This saves you a lot
of time looking for it yourself and also ensures all the information in the app
is correct.

3. Make sure you have QR-codes visible everywhere, as you
can’t scan a QR-code from your phone screen.

LineUpr: Thank you, Martine, for the great interview. Your mission is indescribably valuable. Thanks to you, human lives are saved daily. It makes us proud that we were allowed to contribute a small part to the conference with our event app. There is also a lot of information about the WMDA online. They are also active on Facebook and if you would like to get in touch with Martine directly, you are welcome to contact her on LinkedIn.

We are already looking forward to your next events.

The post LineUpr in Action – The World Marrow Donor Association Anniversary Conference first appeared on LineUpr Blog.

Reading time: 3
minutes

Previously laughed at, yoga is now one of today’s mainstream
activities. Formerly something for women, today many men swear by the almost
serpentine movements. And research has proven that yoga is excellent training
for your back. It also helps you to keep the balance in your life.

As more and more people practice yoga, there are also more
and more yoga studios. You can almost think of it as a movement. For even more
people to experience the wonderful effects, yoga coaches invest a lot of effort
in interesting beginner events. One of them is the LONGNIGHTOFYOOOGA. Yoga für
alle e.V. brings together several yoga studios from different cities and offers
many different classes for one night. In 2019, there were a total of 115
locations in 5 cities.

So that the participants do not lose the overview here, an event app from LineUpr was used again this year. Cornelia Brammen from the association Yoga Für Alle was responsible for this. In this interview, she will tell you how she integrated the different yoga styles into the app and how the app was received. Have fun while reading.

LineUpr: Hello
Conny. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Please introduce
yourself and the association Yoga für Alle.

Conny: I am Conny
Brammen, Kundalini yoga teacher Level I and II, journalist, and founder and director
of the non-profit organization Yoga Für Alle, which organizes the
LONGNIGHTOFYOOOGA as a fundraising event every year on the closest Saturday to
the summer solstice. So again on June 20, 2020.

LineUpr: Once a
year, you organize the LONGNIGHTOFYOOOGA. Please tell us more about this.

Conny: As a
non-profit organization, we depend on donations to achieve what we started out
to do: to facilitate social yoga. So yoga for people in the care of social and
government institutions. The LONGNIGHTOFYOOOGA is our fundraising event. And in
the best sense of the word it is yoga for everyone – because for only 20 Euros,
visitors can experience the diversity of yoga in many places in their city. In
2019, there were 116 Yoga locations in Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Bochum, and
Sylt. Hopefully, Frankfurt, and possibly Düsseldorf, will join in 2020.

LineUpr: What
strategies and tools do you use to address this target group? Do you attach
particular importance to something special?

Conny: We use the LineUpr web app in every city to guide visitors perfectly through the LONGNIGHTOFYOOOGA. We also do marketing on Facebook and Instagram, and we have a nice, very individually designed newsletter. Hamburg Marketing supports us with A1 posters in the metropolitan region and the Sports Bureau also assists us with patronage from the State Sports Council.

LineUpr: You have
used LineUpr now for the second time. How did you learn about LineUpr and what
added value does an event app offer you?

Conny: Our graphic designer looked on the internet for a beautiful app and found you. And as I already said: LineUpr allows visitors to surf securely through the LONGNIGHTOFYOOGA.

As I said, the app was an essential part of our marketing strategy and was therefore integrated from the beginning.

LineUpr: How did
you describe the different yoga styles in the app?

Conny: There are many different types of yoga styles. We wanted our attendees to be able to search directly for these styles. So we created a separate line-up profile for each yoga style. We then linked this profile directly to the program points where this style was offered. In the program point, of course, the corresponding studio was linked. This allowed each participant to select his style directly and then have all the program points and studios displayed.

LineUpr: You had
already published the app before the event and so you were able to also
advertise, for example, the ticket offices. How and why did you do that?

Conny: We just love the stationary trade. Therefore, the ticket offices are very important to us. Since the app was one of our marketing channels, this, of course, could not be missed.

The usage figures look very positive. So I would say that the app was well-received.

LineUpr: When and
how did you inform your participants about the event app?

Connie: As I
said, the app was an important part of our marketing strategy and was therefore
integrated from the beginning. So we mentioned the event app, for example, in
our newsletter, and on Facebook.

Parallel to the app, we also had a program booklet. Going completely digital is not yet possible and a printed program booklet also has a different feel. But also in this program booklet, we pointed out the event app on the last page.

LineUpr: How did
your visitors react to the app?

Conny: We did not
actively ask for feedback. But since no one has said anything negative about
the app, there was apparently nothing to complain about. Also, the usage
figures look very positive. So I would say the app was well-received.

LineUpr: Thank
you for the great interview, Conny. That was a very interesting conversation
with you. If time permits, we also try to do yoga in the office from time to
time. But I admit, unfortunately only very rarely.

More information about the association Yoga für Alle is available on this page. Here you can also get glimpses of the LONGNIGHTOFYOOOGA from the previous years. On this page, you can also find out about the next edition in 2020. We are already looking forward to it.

The post LineUpr in Action – The Digital Program of the LONGNIGHTOFYOOOGA first appeared on LineUpr Blog.

LineUpr: Hello Danielle. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Please introduce yourself and Hawkins and Co. Accounting.

Danielle: My name is Danielle Ramsten and I’m the Marketing and Technology Manager at Hawkins and Co. Accounting. Hawkins and Co. Accounting is not your father’s accounting firm – we leverage technology to help our clients better understand their numbers and because of this they are able to focus on the bigger picture so they can work “on” their business not “in” their business.

LineUpr: You’ve used LineUpr for the Mental Health and Wellness Conference. Tell us more about this event. How is it that an accounting firm is involved in such an event?

Danielle: The WE Belong Mental Health and Wellness Conference was created out a vision that a local mom, Dilene Duarte, had for parents to support their children to be the best they can be through compassion and without judgement.

Whether your child is struggling in school, socially with peers, with their sexuality, body image, navigating life with social media we have a speaker for you. The idea is to provide information for parents so they can take what they need.

To bring this vision to life we formed a committee of inspiring women and mothers who all have unique ideas that have added to the breadth of the conference. And this committee is where Hawkins and Co. come in. Allison Hawkins, owner at Hawkins and Co. and myself were part of this committee.

As part of the event we wanted to provide a way for our guests to ask questions anonymously as some of the topics are very personal. This is when we found LineUpr as it provided the perfect way to ask questions live as our speakers presented.

LineUpr: Do you also use printed products to distribute information on-site? If so, which and why?

Danielle: The only item we printed was the QR code to be displayed on each table for people to assist in uploading to their phone if they hadn’t done so before arriving through the link we sent out before the event.

LineUpr: You’ve used LineUpr for the first time. How did you learn about LineUpr and what was the decisive argument for you to use an event app?

Danielle: We found LineUpr by researching online. We knew we were looking for an app that allowed us the ensure the privacy of our guests but also brought more functionality around engaging our audience with announcements during the event. We did test run a few and LineUpr was selected because of its ease of setup, use and privacy for our guests.

LineUpr: How long before the event do you start creating the event app? How much time do you invest in the app?

Danielle: We started with the app a few months before the event but that was only because we wanted to have it ready for when ticket sales began. It took about 2-3 hours getting everything the way we wanted it. And updating it as more sponsors came on or speakers provided more info it was a snap, literally seconds to change anything that we needed to update. I was actually able to do an update minutes before our doors opened as someone noticed a typo in an email address for one of our speakers. I was able to change it on the spot and we were good to go.

LineUpr: When and how do you inform the participants of the event about the event app?

Danielle: We informed our guests in an email blast to remind them of any last minute details and we sent them the link to sign up before they arrived so they were ready to go. Also, as mentioned above, we had a print out of the QR code at each table and pulled it up on our presentation screens in case anyone arrived at the door so they could still take advantage of the app for the event.

LineUpr: Do you also use your app after the end of the event?

Danielle: We did post information after the event as some of our speakers had so many questions they weren’t able to answer right away.

Many had never been to an event that had an event app so they were impressed with the easy set up and quickness to which they could start engaging.

LineUpr: How did your visitors react to the app?

Danielle: Our guests really enjoyed using the app. Many had never been to an event that had an event app so they were impressed with the easy set up and quickness to which they could start engaging.

LineUpr: Thank you very much for the nice interview, Danielle. That sounds like a really great campaign. We think there should be many more such events.
